Dual-Component Systems

Dual-Component Polyurethane Systems by NCFI, formerly known as TerraThane, are uniquely formulated for a variety of geotechnical applications that require excellent lifting capacity, strong adhesion, or structural support.

How the Dual-Component System Works

Dual-component polyurethane systems are designed to create a strong, stable foundation for soils and structures. When the two liquid components are combined, they react and expand into a rigid polyurethane that bonds with the surrounding soils. Different formulations within this system have unique reaction profiles and expansion characteristics, allowing professionals to match the right material to the needs of each project. The final density of the polyurethane depends on the level of confinement—loose soils allow more expansion, while tighter soils produce a denser, stronger result. This versatility makes dual-component systems effective for applications ranging from slab support and void filling to soil stabilization in challenging environments.

Applications

NCFI's dual-component polyurethane systems have been applied to a wide variety of geotechnical applications in various industries and markets. Depending on your needs, NCFI's dual-component systems are designed to perform differently for varied applications. Some are fast for pinpoint lifting control, while some are slower to offer better spread or to be injected deeper. Many of these systems are hydro-insensitive/hydrophobic to perform well in wet environments. Below are just a few of the typical applications these systems were designed for.

  • Concrete Joint Matching
  • Interior and Exterior Concrete Lifting
  • Void and Cavity Filling
  • Trip Hazard Repair
  • Culvert Repair
  • Manhole Rehabilitation
  • Pool Decks and Porches
  • Soil Stabilization and Densification

Benefits of NCFI's Dual-Component Systems

Environmentally Inert

Our dual-component systems are inert products; once installed they will not leach any chemicals into the soil or groundwater. Most of the systems are available upon request as NSF-61 Certified material.

Chemical Resistance

NCFI's dual-component products have excellent resistance to solvents, mold, and mildew, ensuring its structural integrity stays intact.

Hydrophobic/Hydro-Insensitive

Many of the systems are hydrophobic or hydro-insensitive. This means that during installation, they will push water out of the way and not get diluted or affected by the presence of water.

Minimal Disruptions

Fast cure times, a small equipment footprint, and in most cases an alternative to excavation means minimal disruptions for your project.
