Dallas Parking Garage Void Fill

Problem

• Erosion around three-story, in-ground parking garage in Dallas’ uptown area caused a large void surrounding its structural piers, requiring void fill
• A five-foot cavity was found via an observation shaft, which was found to be caused by water which had gone through the block wall

Solution

• Utilize the TerraThane™ 24-003 Geotechnical polyurethane to voidfill and stabilize the pier and void
• Use Boroscopeand GPR to help determine overall void and cavity dimensions Utilize a 5/8” vinyl tube behind the block to guide the 24-003 To the problem location

Results

• The 24-003 polyurethane helped fill both the large and small voids, prevent future water and silt infiltration, and minimize weight added to the area
• Two month installation with minimal disruption
• Minimize costs of traditional methods that would have cost $2M and loss of parking revenues due to disruption
